台湾のレジデンスSoulangh Cultural Parkとの連携で天神に滞在したLin Szu Chunによる展示「Spatial Writing of the Lifescape in Sapporo City / 札幌日常生活地景之空間書寫」が12/18まで開催されています。
初日の11/29には、Lin自身と、同時期に滞在したIvan, Aliceの送別を兼ねたオープニングトーク&ディナーイベントを開催しました。中国から来ているLiさんも交え、メインディッシュは手作り餃子。ホットプレートからもうもうと上がる湯気の中、台湾での活動から、札幌でのプロジェクトまで一連の活動と背景にあるコンセプトを紹介しました。
彼は一滞在者として都市を放浪しながら、その足跡をドローイングを用いて視覚化します。「専門家が作る俯瞰図ばかりが地図ではない。それぞれの視点による多様な地図がありえることを示したい」と語りました。

11/29, at the first day, we had opening talk and farewell dinner for Lin. It was also for Ivan and Alice who were staying at same term. With Li from China we cooked hand made dumpling for main dish. In lots of steam he was introducing his activities from Taiwan to project in Sapporo with its concept.
He wonders around city as a visiter. Then he visualizes those tracings by his drawing. “Bird view maps by scholars are not all of map. I want to show that we can make various maps based on diversity.”

北海道の豊頃町で活動しているNPO法人ALL SeeD Associationの千葉千栄美さんが11/18-11/19の2日間滞在していました。

茨城出身のアーティスト中崎透さんが、11/11-11/16まで滞在していました。中崎さんのブログはこちらhttp://tohru51.exblog.jp/
同時期に茨城で開催されていた県北芸術祭を訪ねたスタッフが、中崎透さんの作品「看板屋なかざき」を取材しました。
会場は常陸多賀駅前の商店街空き店舗。上は店舗入り口に構える、茨城の県北の各市町をサイン化した作品です。
下の白地のサインは、統廃合によって無くなった市町を含んだサイン。中崎さんの幼少にはこれらの町はまだ存在していたとのことでした。

At same time a staff of Tenjin went to Ibaraki to see Kenpoku Art Festival. At there he watched Nakazaki’s current works “Signmaker NAKAZAKI”.
They were exhibited at a closed down shop in front of Hitachi Taga station. Above works are in the entrance of the shop and are featured towns’s names in northern Ibaraki. Below white based work included towns which have been abolished or merged. In artist’s childhood those towns were still remain.

スペインのドキュメンタリー映像作家のIvan Torresが11/30まで滞在中です。ポートフォリオサイトはこちら http://www.ivantorreshdez.com/ 上の写真は天神山近くの手作り肉まん屋さんのオーナー、ともこさんとのツーショット。写真に写っていませんが、パートナーのAliceとの来日で、この後は内地をキャンピングカーで廻るそうです。
フィンランドのテレビ会社への提供や、BBCでの仕事をしてきたという彼。今回は銭湯、公共浴場の取材をメインにしているということで、先日は澄川温泉さんへ撮影のお邪魔をしてきました。
Spanish documentary video creator Ivan Torres stays Tenjin until 11/30. Though here is no photo with his partner Alice, he comes Tenjin with her. They are going to travel Honsyu part of Japan after Tenjin.
Until now he has been working for TV company in Finland, BBC, and various film festivals. For this time is mainly for research about Japanese public bath culture, he came to Sumikawa onsen to shoot on last Tuesday.
文化的な場所よりも、人々の日常に近い場所を撮り収めていきたいというIvan。写真から湯気がもうもうとしている空気感が伝わってきます。
More than cultural places, Ivan prefers to shoot place where is close to people’s daily life. From these photos we can sense bath’s feeling well with lots of steams. Muy Bien.

2016年11月25日 イベント創作活動滞在アーティストと市民の交流企画滞在者紹介
11月13日に行われた鍋を囲むイベント“a-NABE-lization”。日本全国のアーティスト•イン•レジデンスを紹介するMove Arts Japanの招聘アーティストThuy-Tien Nguyen（ベトナム）による企画でした。

「鍋」という言葉は「鍋に入ったもの」を表す「鍋もの」が短くなったものです。それが多くのアジア食文化の共通言語を表していること、地域性を具体化していること、素材において、調理法や作法が常に私たちが住んでいる場所特有のものであること。そうしたことからこの料理が私を魅了しています。
当日は約20名の参加者があり、Tienが用意したキムチスープとベジタリアンスープ2種類の鍋と、それぞれが持ち寄った具材を共に味わいました
This hot-pot (“Nabe” in Japanese) event “a-NABE-lization” was held by Tien at 11/13. She was invited by Move Arts Japan which is introducing Artist in residences in all Japan.
In FB post she speaks “Nabe is short for Nabemono, (“things-in-a-pot dish). This dish fascinates me, since it speaks the common language of the majority of Asian food cultures and embodies locality, in the way its ingredients, cooking recipe and eating habits are always specific to where we are.

2016年11月24日 イベント創作活動滞在アーティストと市民の交流企画
11/26まで豊平区のGallery犬養にてTobiasが作品を展示しています。
現在天神山で展示中の作品のように、普段は鋼とその溶接を用いて制作を行っている彼ですが、Gallery犬養では焼成した粘土（焼き物の手法）による像を展示しています。
Until 11/27 12:00, at Gallery Inukai, Tobias exhibits his works.
As you can see in his current exhibition in Tenjin Tobias usually works in welded steel. But these works in Inukai were made by clay and firing.
窯も粘土も持っていない彼が、どのようにこの展示へ行き着いたのか。発端は10/31に芸術の森に行き、陶工房を見学した時の事です。工房職員で作家の谷口さんが「これも何かの縁だから、今何か作っていきなよ」と声をかけてくれ、粘土を分けてくれました。仕事の速いTobias、その場で6体の像を作り、谷口さんの焼成に場所をお借りする事になりました。
後日、焼き上がった作品を持って来てくれた谷口さん。その場で「とても良い仕上がりだから、月末の僕の展示に一緒に出さないか」と誘ってくれたのでした。
Tobias didn’t intend to work in ceramic since he didn’t own a kiln or have any clay but on entering the clay workshop in Sapporro Art Park he met with Dai Taniguchi who kindly suggested he make some work in collaboration with him. Dai then gave tobias a bag of clay and said why don’t you work now? Tobias quickly made 6 figures that Dai made room for in his outdoor woodfire kiln
Later, when Dai brought the fired clay works he said “Firing was well done. These appear really great. Why don’t you exhibit in my upcoming exhibition?”

造形作家として、人の体を通して現れる意志に関心があります。普遍的に人体が持つ、たぐいまれな能力。直観的なコミュニケーションを可能にすること、言語表現の障害から自由であること、そして、例えば身振りのみから得られる感覚的な理解といったもの。こうした言語によらないコミュニケーションを私はこの粘土像に対して用いています。
大さんと出会って粘土造形の可能性や、すばらしい焼成技術を見せてもらい、私は素地そのものや窯の中で生まれる色彩を楽しむような作品を作りたいと考えました。鉄を主として制作する彫刻家としては、粘土での制作は新鮮なものでしたが、私の直観的で直截的な造形気質とよく合いました。肉体のビジョンをつくるために粘土を押し、ひねり、そして引っ張りながらも、筋肉や皮膚はそれら自身が炎の求めに応じるように、そして裂け目と穴は化学反応がよく起こるように作りました。粘土に導かれて、ねじれたり曲がったりしている半身像を素早く作りながら、エキサイティングな焼成の妙が映えるよう力を注ぎました。
大さんがこの躍動するような色彩を結んだ焼成技術を教えてくれたこと、私のために窯に場所を作ってくれたこと、そして素材と時間をくださったことに大きな感謝を言いたいと思います。谷口大さんは心から人を励まし、粘土に対して情熱を注ぐ芸術家です。それは熟練の知識と技術を分かち合ってくれる方から頂いた喜ばしい学びの時間でした。
Pushing the figure
As a figurative artist I am interested in the expression of meaning through the body. The body’s rare ability to be understood universally enables for instinctive communication, free from the problems of verbal interaction, and thus a comprehension of feeling through gesture alone can be achieved. These nonverbal communications are what I drew on for my inspiration for these clay figurines. After meeting Dai and being introduced to the prospect of working in clay and utilising a fantastic firing technique, I decided to create some work that plays on the textures and colours created in the kiln.
Being a sculptor that works predominantly in steel, working in clay was a new feeling but merged well with my intuitive and immediate sculpting nature. Pushing, twisting and pulling the clay to create a vision of flesh, muscles and skin also leant itself to the needs of the fire, creating crevices and pits for the chemicals to react in. Being led by the clay I quickly created torsos twisting and turning, filled with energy to mirror the exciting nature of the firing.
I’d like to say a very big thank you to Dai for introducing me to his firing technique, which resulted in such vibrant colours, for making space for me in his kiln and for being so giving with his materials and time. Dai Tanaguchi is a truly inspiring artist who is passionate about clay. It is a joy learning from a man who is generously sharing his skill and knowledge of a subject he knows so well.
